Daniel Stewart received his BFA in 1985 from the Ohio State University. His concentration was Painting and Drawing, with a minor in Film. In 1990, he received his MFA from Eastern Michigan University, with a concentration in Painting. He began his Art Education career at EMU in 1989. In 1990, he also began teaching art education, art history, drawing, painting, design and humanities at Monroe County Community College and at the University of Toledo. In 2003, he began teaching Color Theory, as well as 2D and 3D Design at the College For Creative Studies, in Detroit, Michigan. Daniel began exhibiting his paintings in the early 1980s. Relocating to Michigan in 1988, he has exhibited extensively throughout Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio, as well as Kentucky, and in Canada.
